Frequently Asked Questions

Why book DAYBREAK instead of a DJ for your event?

Live music is so much more fun! Our talented musicians interact with the audience, customize their play list to suit your guests and work hard to ensure everyone is having a good time.

Not everyone dances. For guests who don’t dance, a live music band provides a terrific show to watch.

How far in advance do we need to book the band?

The earlier the better. Most people book at least two months in advance. Earlier for popular dates.

What will happen during the band breaks?

During DAYBREAK’s short breaks, CDs are played to keep the atmosphere humming.

How will the band be dressed?

Tuxedos or suits for formal events. More casual dress for outdoor festivals and casual occasions. If your wedding or event has a specific theme or other dress requirement, we would be happy to do our best to accommodate.

Can we borrow a microphone for announcements?

Yes; however banquet halls generally have have an internal PA system which is better suited for speeches, MC duties or announcements.

Can we play our own music during cocktails, dinner, set breaks and/or first dance?

Certainly. Bring your CDs or iPod and we can connect them to our system.

How far will Daybreak travel for a booking?

We are based in Hamilton, ON but we have performed as far as Thunder Bay, ON or Cleveland, Ohio. Overnight accommodations, if required, will be included in the price.

Do we need to provide a meal for the band members?

It is not necessary but is always appreciated. Keep in mind that band members are always on site early to do set up and may not have time to eat. If a meal is provided, band members can stay on site and be ready to play.

Can the band play extra time?

Yes, if the event is still in full swing past the contracted time, the band will be happy to keep playing for a reasonable amount of time.

Will you play my first dance song?
Do you take requests during the event?

With two weeks’ advance notice, we would be happy to learn a special song if we don’t already have it in our repertoire. We are happy to take request for songs that are on our extensive play list.
